Who is that Bob guy who takes those pictures of dogs?
I am a dog photographer. I love dogs, I spend the majority of my waking and sleeping life as surrounded by dogs as it's possible to be, and I can't imagine a life that wasn't full of paws, tails, slobber and barking. When I picked up a camera for the first time it seemed perfectly natural to start pointing it at my dog, although he was a lot less excited about it than I was. The logical next step was to start pointing that camera at other people's dogs, which led me to looking for a way to use my photography to make a real difference. I wanted to do something bigger than just me that would, hopefully, make life a little better for dogs in need. Back in the spring of 2005 I started contacting local shelters and eventually got involved with Family Dogs New Life. The rest, as they say, is history.
Over the years I've photographed more than 3000 dogs, an experience that's been a combination of incredibly hard work, a fair amount of frustration, and lots of fun. I've photographed purebred show dogs and mutts, huge Mastiffs and newborn puppies, shelter dogs waiting for new homes and deeply loved family members.
Dogs have taught me a lot about life, the world, my work as an artist and even about being a better person. Having the opportunity to do the work I do, photographing and spending time with all these incredible animals, is rewarding in a way most people will never understand.
